Ides of March Game Night

March 15 get together. In honor of the date, we played Roman-themed games: Colosseum, Quo Vadis, Downfall of Pompeii, and Tribune. Anthony, Brian, Brian, Dagon, Erica, Jeff, Rich, and Shelly were in the house.

  1. As far as Roman games, if anyone is up for Mare Nostrum, I could find a player aid to email out ahead of time.

  2. Other games that I was thinking of bringing were: Colosseum, Municipium, and Alea Iacta Est.

Dagon could bring Pompeii, and Jeff could bring Tribune.

  3. Steve, my concern about Mare Nostrum is that I've heard it can go very long. I've seen threads on BGG discussing 4 hour play length. Add rules explanation and that's more than we could manage on a Tuesday night. Do you have a sense of how long it takes?

  4. I think a first play would be pretty long.

I'd be up for Colosseum and the dice game. I've had Colosseum for years now without ever getting it played.

  5. Ditto on Colosseum. It's just too cool looking to trade, even though it's hard to get it played. I'd definitely be interested in giving it a spin. Maybe you and I could read the rules before hand and, between us, get everyone else up to speed.

  6. Sounds good.

I'd like to hear what you think of the trading. The way it's written seems awfully time consuming. Would you be up for just having a one minute free-for-all or some other variant?
